Da Costa: FIA must "find another way" other than disqualifying cars post-race
The Portuguese driver lost his victory at the inaugural Misano E-Prix when his Porsche car failed post-race checks due to an ineligible throttle damper setting. This setting was related to the spring and had been previously used on Gen2 machines but was removed from the “GEN3 Spark Catalogue” for the 2022-23 season. Porsche acknowledged that the spring had been on the car since the Gen3 era began, as the catalogue only emphasized new parts, not deletions. The driver, da Costa, expressed his frustration about the outcome changing hours after the race and appealed the decision, with a hearing scheduled for early June. He emphasized that there was no performance advantage, just a mistake, and called for better penalty procedures for the sake of the sport and fans’ understanding.
